چکیده
The present study involves the measurement of radionuclide contents and radon/thoron exhalation rate in soil samples collected from 30 villages Jammu district, J & K, India. Thallium-doped sodium iodide detector advanced Smart Rn Duo monitor were used for rates. radon flux was also measured by using a surface chamber technique. mass has been found to vary 15 ± 0.4 38 0.8 mBq kg?1 h?1, while thoron 90 22 4880 280 Bq m?2 h?1. mean value radium equivalent activity (99 27 kg?1) appeared be well within admissible limit 370 suggested Organization Economic Cooperation Development (2009) report. values various parameters related radiological hazards calculated, all have below safe limits given organizations. Thze outcomes pointed out that region protected danger as per health risk effects associated with these are concerned.

Radon exhalation rates from stone and soil samples of Aravali hills in India
Background: The most popular building materials are soil bricks and different types of stones. Radon is released into ambient air from soil and stones due to ubiquitous uranium and radium in them, thus increasing the airborne radon concentration. The radioactivity in soils is related to radioactivity in the rocks from which the soil is formed. In the present investigation, the radon em...

Background: Natural radionuclides are always present in the environment. Human exposure to the background radiation is inevitable. It is therefore important to assess health risk associated with these radionuclides. Materials and Methods: The distribution of natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K in soil samples collected from all the twenty (20) local Governments headquarter areas in Ogun s...
متن کاملMeasurement of radium concentration and radon exhalation rates of soil samples collected from some areas of Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh, India using plastic track detectors
Background: Radon is an odourless, colourless and tasteless gas and it is the first cause of lung cancer among non- smokers. The assessment of the level of radium in building materials helps in understanding the radiological implications. It has been observed that everyone has some levels of exposure to them. Therefore measurement of radium and radon in the soil samples are important f...
